25/10 - Beating Beckenham is Bittersweet

Beckenham Town '95 0 GroundHoppers 3

GroundHoppers where looking for their eighth win on the bounce against local rivals Beckenham Town '95. Andrew Huggins scored within the first 5 minutes after combining brilliantly with Steven Evans. A great one-two opened up the Beckenham defence and Andrew Huggins cooly slotted his shot past the stranded keeper. But Hoppers failed to convert two very good chances before the break and almost conceded an equaliser but James Dakin saved well. On the 75th minute Matthew Searle finally made it two from close range with his 5th goal of the season. Then Lawrence Thompson finally put the game to bed with 5 minutes left with a thunder bolt from 8 yards. That made it 25 games unbeaten for GroundHoppers and put them top of the league for the first time this season. After the match GroundHoppers captain Perry Burgess said "It never get's boring beating Beckenham".
